Following the success of last July’s 1st Performance & Live Art Platform in Cyprus, Larnaca, we are now organising the 2nd time round! As we believe and emphasised last year, it is important that it happens on a yearly basis.
The Performance & Live Art Platform Cyprus is an artist-led event which in 2013 returns to Cyprus (this time in Nicosia) early September 2013. This platform celebrates the work of artists emerging artists as well as established who have interdisciplinary backgrounds and whose work focuses on performance and live art.
On Saturday 7th of September the platform will be based at The Point Centre for Contemporary Arts in Nicosia, Cyprus; this time as a one day event, which will include a half-day Symposium with the theme of “Artistic Definitions of Performance Art” as well as discussions on “Performance Documentation”. The platform will also include a screening,durational performances, a workshop, happenings, installations, performance lectures…
We are now accepting proposals for performance and live art pieces. There are 8 places – we are looking for site specific and non-site specific: short performances, durational works, installations, actions, happenings, installations, encounters, 1 to 1 pieces, sound artists & noise pieces, video installations…we are open to any format!
We are also very interested for artists who are practice-as-researchers to apply and who would particularly like to present as well as speak about their work.
This event will be free as we want to make it as accessible for everyone! The Platform is a not-for-profit initiative supported mainly by its organizing team. Unfortunately we cannot offer your travel ticket to Cyprus so we ask other institutions to support your trip. Please specify in your proposal that you would like us to write you such a letter. All involved in this project are volunteering and investing freely from their own time towards making it a success. We are in the process of applying for funding to cover props and a small artist fee, the decision from the funding boards will come out in August. Please note you should not accept to perform dependant on the outcome of that process as the Performance & Live Art Platform will not be making decisions over this but the funding boards!
